INTRO

New Babylon is a fictional city I am building from scratch within the game, Tower Unite. I plan to construct buildings of all kinds from hangouts, residential, commercial, and industrial, to flesh out the city and its lore. The city will be fully explorable including interiors, where possible. After working a year on and off on a previous version of this concept, I realized I wasn't fully happy with the direction, however, the process taught me a lot about the game and it's systems. I scrapped the old version of the city and began work on this bigger, more ambitious and cohesive version of my original vision. Follow along with me on this journey through progress updates and scheduled, in-game tours from time to time. The city has a long ways to go, and I am only one man, so criticism and especially recommendations for what I can change or add over time is greatly appreciated.

LORE

The City of New Babylon began with modest roots when a mining company named Babel Enterprises, after It's founder, set up a new mining operation in an unclaimed expense in the American rust belt. The year was 1846, and Babel had received word from his spotters that the area was rich in aluminum, one of the most precious metals at the time. Upon starting the dig, the miners learned that would be the tip of a lifetime. Vein upon vein of aluminum was being found in and around the site, Babel was rich. The area developed rapidly, housing for workers and their families, recreation, schools, business, industry. before long the city, now dubbed New Babylon by its founder, Aleksander Babel, was rivaling other settlements in the rust belt, even the likes of Detroit and Philadelphia. Life was good for the New Babylonians, and the aluminum mine felt like an infinite wealth of resources at their disposal, but the good fortune could never last forever. In 1886, with developments in electrolytic processes, the mining and refinement of aluminum was made braindead easy, reducing its value to less-than-pennies almost overnight. Babel Enterprises, Aleksander, and his utopian city in the east, was essentially leveled to the ground. Citizens left in droves, unable to find work that they could live on. Businesses shut their doors due to lack of business, and most damming of all. New Babylon's only export, Aluminum, was now worthless. Aleksander Babel died penniless among the ruins of his once great city. But not everyone left, not everyone could. The corpse of the city lingers on, desperately grasping at the world stage. Poverty, corruption, and crime litter the streets. The buildings, looking abandoned in the harsh reality that is economic apocalypse. This is the New Babylon of today, The sinner's city reborn.
